It was noon and a very sunny Sunday, Joseph woke up to someone shaking him roughly. He groaned and mumbled to himself, half asleep. He had down a five glass of scotch the previous night, he had even forgotten it was Sunday.
"Joseph" he jerked fully awake at the sound of that familiar voice. It was his sister.
"Eva" he whispered "what is it?"
"Mum asked me to wake you" Eva said smiling at the way Joseph was reacting. She knew he would react that way because nobody disturbs him when he is asleep.
"What for?" Joseph said half screaming "can you see that am sleeping"
"It is noon brother and only a lazy man sleeps till this time"
"Meaning?" He said with his eye wide open "that am a lazy man"
"No...... Was implying that.... " Eva tried to Dodge but Joseph caught her "I was just saying ...."
".... Just cut it" Joseph cut her off "tell her am still sleeping" he continued as he covered his face with the blanket
Eva immediately snatch the blanket From him
"We are having a visitor down stairs and your presence is highly needed" Eva said has she threw the blanket to one corner of the room.
"And what is my concern with the visitor? Serve them and make sure they are entertained. So I don't see any reason why my presence should be needed" Joseph concluded
"It is Anna and her mom" she said with a smile "so its best you attend to them" she said as she leave his room
"Ann...... Anna! What!... Here? Right now?" He said surprisingly
"It was suppose to be a surprise but you were too stubborn to get out of bed"
Joseph mind went haywire, his mind began to rumble on the bed. He didn't want to believe it at first , he had only dreamt of her couple of hours ago. So now she is in his house, his sitting room, sitting on his chair. He didn't understand what she and her mother must have come here to do.
'Didn't mother see her on social media and hook us up for a date? Or must it be , her mother is a friend of mine? So they are trying to hook us up' he thought 'yes it must be so, cause her mother knew my name the moment she saw me'
Joseph stood up from his bed and began to pace round the room. He hadn't brush, he hadn't bath, his body is so dishevelled, his hair so unkempt, his whole system was upside down. He went to the bathroom and splatter water on his face. He brushed his teeth and moved to his wardrobe and look for a very suitable and befitting cloth to wear.
Joseph left his room in no rush, prepared to answer any question thrown towards him. When he reached the stair, he began to walk like a ninja on his toes. He was eavesdropping but didn't hear anything. So Joseph cleared his throat and walked majestically to the spacious sitting room. At the sight of Anna, his heart began to race. And found it so strange, he hadn't felt such since the last seven. So now here he was with a pounding heart with a fast heart beat, faster than usual. He had thought he was going to have a panic attack.
"Good afternoon ma" Joseph said as he entered the sitting room. He was so surprise to see his father among the gathering.
"Sleeping early and waking up late" his father said
Joseph wasn't ready to protest cause they all thought he had gone to bed when he went upstairs. They didn't know he had sneaked his way back downstairs to the bar when everyone had gone to bed. He had gone for a bottle of whisky.
"Mrs Taylor, what a pleasant surprise" Joseph said as he sank on a chair beside his father
"We never thought we would be here l" Mrs Taylor said "I changed my mind when we were coming back from church. Isn't that so Anna?" She said turning towards Anna
"Yes, mom just changed her mind. You know she was behind the wheel, so anything happen" she said and everyone laughed. But Joseph found it so strange, it not possible they just chose to visit today, a day after I went out with Anna.
'I haven't seen her in our house before, so why the sudden change in event?' He thought
"So Anna, how you doing??" Joseph asked
"Am fine" her voice was cool and soft as always "hope you dreamt of me?" She said jokingly
Joseph looked at her surprisingly and suddenly felt ashamed. He didn't know the kind of reply to give, with all eyes on him. He suddenly thought he was being setup, that he was the only one there that is innocent of what was going on. She shouldn't have asked that question, YES! he had dreamt of her but he can't admit it cause if he does they will think he was already into her and if he says NO! she might be disappointed.
He doesn't know what to do, hell YES! he had dreamt of her. A very romantic dream he had had in years the flash back of the dream crept into his memory and he began to smile alone, he began to smile like a baby. He was so lost in ecstasy and fantasy of the dream.
His father tapped him and brought him back from his dreamland.
"Sure, I dreamt of you" he finally said
That reply made his mother so amazed, she had never expected such from him. She had thought he would say NO!, but he chose to surprise her ...surprise them all.
"Let leave the two young lover bird to their chirping and let we old bird enjoy yourself in the nest upstairs" Joseph father said as he stood and led the ladies to the upper sitting room.
Joseph wanted to talk but he merely whispered to himself. He knew his father cunning behavior, So he sat still and watched His parent and Mrs Taylor move towards the stairs.
Joseph began to think on how to start the conversation with Anna. He also thought of what to say to her. He hadn't found anything interesting to discuss. They haven't known each other for 24 hours, so all what he could think of are merely irrelevant.
"Nice dress" he said silently. He knew his parent would be in every me corner trying to eavesdrop their conversation.
"Thanks" Anna said simply with a dazzling smile that swept Joseph off his feet.
There was silence again, so Joseph try to figure out what to say but found none. His head began to calculate what to say as the conversation faded but luckily for him, she helped him out.
"Nice and spacious sitting room you have here" she said but Joseph wasn't liking that kind of complimentary conversation. It would lead no where.
"Thanks" Joseph manage to say "did you tell your mom about what I told you?" He asked looking so serious
"Well, not every part" she said and immediately Joseph countenance changed. He knew girls with their loose mouth but he did not know what to do with them "what is with the eye?" She asked him
"Nothing"
"I was only joking, I didn't tell her anything"
"Really?" Joseph said sharply
"Yes, do you think my mouth is that lose" she said
Joseph was short of words, she is kind of special and different from other girls. She is just the carbon copy of Sasha.
"Are you going to tell me the concluded part of your past now?" She said
Joseph looked around, checking whether his parents were lurking in a corner watching them.
"I will tell next time, definitely not today" he said "or are you free tomorrow? I would like to take you out, if you don't mind"
"I am always free" Anna said looking curious "but where are you taking me?"
"Don't worry, you will know tomorrow"
Anna didn't protest, but she wondered where he would take her. Soon their conversation had began to fade again. Joseph began to think what to say again but found none.
"I will really like to see your room" she said
Joseph looked so dumbfounded , he hadn't expected it. The thought of his room being so untidy ran through his mind. He hadn't have the slightest guess that she would want to check his room
"Excuse me" he muttered
"I will really like to see your room or is anything wrong with that?"
Joseph faced her with his mouth wide open. He still didn't believe it, the bottle of whisky still lying somewhere hopelessly in his room, his pants flung wide in every corner. It really ain't a perfect sight. Oh Joseph room! He began to think of how to change the topic but Anna was so adamant guess she had notice Joseph . she already knew he hadn't wanted her anywhere his room.
"If you had told me you wanted to check my room when you came yesterday, I would be so glad to have shown it to you...... Or are you hiding something?" Anna said
That word challenged Joseph, it made him remember Sasha. She was always challenging him also. So Joseph didn't care anymore, she had insisted so must bare the sight. Joseph stood up and led the way to his room. When he got upstairs, he saw his sister,Eva. That was so strange, Joseph room was the only one in that passage. He began to wonder what his little sister was doing in his corner.
"Perfect" Eva said and smiled has she walked pass them
Joseph looked at her but didn't understand what she meant, he didn't understand the message she was trying to relay.Joseph got to his door and began to feel anxious. He knew she would laugh after seeing his room, She would freak out. So Joseph flung the door wide and immediately close his eyes.
"Wow" Anna exclaimed
Joseph was waiting for her next words, but she didn't say anything.
"Your room is beautiful" she said softly
Joseph mind lit up but he didn't understand, before he left the room some minutes ago. It was a mess,so why beautiful now. He thought she was mess with him.
She walked pass him and entered the room. Joseph open his eyes slowly but to his amusement, he saw what he hadn't expected, a sudden transformation. He entered inside the room briskly, he hadn't expected it.
"I thought your room was dirty, that was why you didn't want me to see . I didn't know It was a palace" Anna concluded
Joseph began to understand why Eva was in his corner of the house and what she meant my 'PERFECT'.
'The little brat came to her brother aid' he thought
"Do I look dirty?" Joseph said bragging "I just didn't expect you to come looking in my room, that's all"
"It is perfect I must confess" Anna commented
Joseph began to feel proud of his sister, she ha d save him so many times though her help comes with a price. Even laura also comes to my rescue.
That day had gone wit so many gisting and chatting. Joseph began to see reality of life than just wallow in darkness for many years. Guess he had tried his best but it is not so easy to forget. The impact she made in his life isn't something he could just forget, though he tried so many times. Meeting Anna was like a blessing just after a day of getting acquainted, he had got so use to her it like they have known each other for ages.
He just don't wanna believe whether Sasha was back , but this time in form of Anna. Guess Sasha was back to his life but not as herself, maybe as Anna. They were both brunette, natural dark lips and a thick eye brow. Joseph began to corelate their physical appearance, he then discovered they were almost alike except for the fact that Anna was more flashy and probably more prettier. He just didn't want to believe what was ringing on his mind whether Sasha came back to his life in another form.
'If so, then my messiah is back'
